The clouds grow like tumors in a density that mocks every effort to preserve a shred of joy. Immemorial. Time slows to a crawl. Push my teeth into the dust kicked up around me by a world unchanged. A constant tear in the horizon, unraveling a single thread. Every moment of bitter stillness punctuated by the words I wish I'd said. All I know is all I have. Ceremonial ties to formless deities. Malice woven through uncertainty and absolution. The joy in motion flips the switch on a torrent of kinder moments. Every blink of an eye, a reminder, a countdown, twitching away, forever approaching the inevitable. The veil of loss hangs heavy, its putrid air scrapes the length of my throat. I'd erase everything, give my every breath for the comfort of your presence. Tear me to ribbons. Don't leave me alone.
